Oil and gas drilling within Allegheny National Forest
This is the Bradford Ranger District headquarters for the Allegheny. The Forest Service is proposing to expand and construct new facilities in the large clearcut area. The Forest Service illegally excavated 13.5 acres without an approved erosion and sedimentation plan and required environmental permit from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. The DEP issued a cease and desist order to the Forest Service, shutting down the construction activities until the Forest Service applies for and receives the required permit after proper legal notice and public comment.
