Clearcutting the Allegheny National Forest
Stop the madness! This map shows all of the areas clearcut in the last 50 years. Areas clearcut within the last 20 years shown in red and areas clearcut between the early 1950s and 1980s are shown in yellow. Keep in mind that it is an age class map and therefore also shows areas hit by tornados and other wind events. Also, just because an area isn't red or yellow doesn't mean it hasn't been cut, it just means it hasn't been clearcut yet.

Just a clarification -
I do not understand why areas like Hickory Creek, Allegheny Front, Cornplanter and Tracy Ridge NRA's were not included. The year of origin within the GIS was defined as 0. I'm going to see if I can get some sort of defined age class for them.
Also, I do not understand why "year of origin" begins in year 1191. That is just the way this attribute was defined as beginning. Nevertheless, it accurately projects areas that have not been logged since 1893, which is the threshold for the Forest Service's classification of old growth (forests that are 111+ years old).
Then the gray represents those areas logged between 1894 and 1950....and so on.
